It is difficult to imagine a modern woman's wardrobe without a beautiful evening dress, and it is not at all necessary to give an exorbitant amount for it in the store. A simple elegant dress with thin spaghetti straps, made of a good flowing fabric, may well be appropriate for a ball or an ordinary party.

Instructions

Step 1

The selection of fabric for the future evening dress is one of the most important stages of its production. If you are not very confident in your abilities, you can buy similar material from a cheaper category. Having experimented with it, you can take into account possible mistakes, and prevent them from occurring when sewing a future evening dress. Plus you end up with two dresses, and it remains to be seen which one will end up looking more expensive and more elegant.

Step 2

Measure your bust and hips with a tailor's tape parallel to the floor. Add 4 cm to the resulting value and divide by 2. Let's say your thighs are 90 cm.

(90 + 4) / 2 = 47 cm.

Add another 1.5 cm to the resulting figure at the seams, this will be the width of your pattern.

Step 3

Calculate the length of the pattern based on the parameters: 4 cm for the hem at the bottom, 10 cm for the lapel at the top, plus the desired length of the future dress from the armpit.

Step 4

Cut out two straight canvases, fold them right side to each other, pin or tack on the sides. Sew the details of the dress together, while taking into account one nuance. The part of the seam below the knees will have to be left open, otherwise it will be very difficult for you to move around in your new outfit.

Step 5

Tuck the dress up at the bottom, hem it with a neat seam. Finish the resulting cuts, paying particular attention to the splines.

Step 6

Tuck the top of the dress 10 cm with the lapel inward, sew it at a distance of 1 cm from the edge, pass a linen band through the formed tunnel. The elastic band should not be taken too short, the dress should only fit to the chest and in no case should it tighten.

Step 7

Sew straps from the same fabric and attach them as you like. They can be the most ordinary, laid in a cross or represent a complex weave, here it all depends on your imagination and ability to bring it to life.

Step 8

The dress is ready, you just have to add accessories to it. For example, an evening dress made of very thin fabric will be well decorated with a thin belt that tightly fits the waist.
