Sewing a coat with your own hands is not as difficult as it might seem at first glance. The main thing is to choose the right model of outerwear and buy a beautiful fabric, the choice of which is huge. But before you start sewing, you should cut out a coat.
It is necessary
- - sewing magazines;
- - a program for creating patterns;
- - centimeter;
- - graph paper or tracing paper;
- - ruler, pencil;
- - patterns;
- - tailor's chalk;
- - coat fabric.
To create a coat pattern, you will need the exact size of the figure. So take your measurements and write down the results. Using a centimeter, measure your bust, hips and waist, chest and back width, back to waist, neck girth, sleeve length, and also determine the desired coat length.
Use ready-made patterns from sewing magazines. Determine your size from the table. Find all the details on a sheet of patterns and transfer them to paper through a carbon copy. This is the easiest way to cut a coat.
Make a coat pattern using the electronic template designer. Enter your measurements in the appropriate table. The program will automatically reflect the necessary data on the pattern. Print out the templates, glue the sheets together and cut out the details of the coat.
When using ready-made patterns, errors are always possible. Therefore, either adjust the patterns to your size, or cut out the coat yourself. To do this, prepare graph paper, drawing tools and be patient.
Start cutting the coat from the back. Draw a rectangle, the width of which is equal to a quarter of the girth of the chest, the length coincides with the length of the product. Mark the lines of the chest and waist. Using the patterns, draw the armhole and neckline.
Open the shelf in the same way as for the back, but make a reserve for the fastener. Draw the neckline deeper and draw a hem, which is a duplicate of the middle part of the shelf with a margin for the fastener and lapels of the coat.
Draw the sleeve pattern on mutually perpendicular straight lines. Mark the length and width of the sleeve. Tuck the pattern down to the width of your wrist. Draw an okat using the template.
In addition to the main details, make patterns for pockets, collar, belt, yoke, if required by the coat model. Mark on the templates the direction of the share threads, the joints of the parts. Cut out the coat patterns.
Fold the overcoat fabric along the long line with the right side inward. Lay out all the parts on the cloth, leaving space for allowances, secure them with pins. Circle the patterns with tailor's chalk, make seam allowances of 1, 5-2 cm. Cut out the details.
Cut out the details of the back, shelves and sleeves of the coat from the lining fabric. Make the length of the parts slightly shorter than from the main fabric. After preparing the coat patterns, start sewing the product.
