For pregnant women, from a certain period of time, most of the usual clothes become uncomfortable, and they need things adapted to their position. Nevertheless, it is not necessary to purchase expensive trousers and skirts in special stores for pregnant women - after pregnancy you will no longer wear them, which means that it is much more profitable to sew trousers for pregnant women yourself, saving family money. To sew such trousers, you need ordinary trousers or jeans that suit you in size, and a piece of elastic jersey.
In order to turn ordinary jeans into maternity pants, you will need only half an hour of free time. Take old, but intact trousers and carefully cut the belt from them with tailor's scissors.
Then take a piece of elastic jersey of the desired color, equal in length to the circumference of your waist, and equal to 15-20 cm in width. You can also use an old knitted skirt or T-shirt as a knitted yoke, from which the lower part is cut off. If you are sewing a yoke from a plain knitted fabric, sew the cut into a ring.
Go back to the trousers from which you cut off the belt. Unbolt the zipper and sew the fly section by hand or machine. Turn the pants inside out, and from the wrong side on a typewriter, stitch a knitted yoke to their cut-off top edge.
Work the seams with an overlock or zigzag, and if necessary, insert an elastic band into the upper edge of the yoke, bending the edge of the panel and stitching it at a distance of 2 cm from the edge.
If a piece of jersey for the yoke turned out to be too light compared to trousers or jeans, and the yoke does not hold them on the figure, sew it with an additional rubberized thread and strengthen it in the belt area, additionally stitching it several times on a typewriter. Such trousers will become a comfortable and beautiful piece of clothing for you during pregnancy.
