Green cucumber is most commonly used in the kitchen for making salads, but it is also worth trying for homemade face masks. Cucumber moisturizes, brightens and tones the skin. It will help in the care of dry and mature skin.
In ancient Greece, it was believed that the cucumber promotes the development of intelligence. Cultivated for 3,500 years, this vegetable is one of the most consumed raw vegetables. Perfectly quenches thirst (97% water), has a diuretic effect, helps to cleanse the body of toxins. It is appreciated not only in the kitchen, but also in the cosmetic industry - cucumber extracts can be found in creams, tonics and face masks.
In cosmetics, first of all, cucumber acts as a whitening, emollient and moisturizer. Gently brightens freckles, acne scars, dark circles and hormonal spots, further reducing puffiness around the eyes. It can also improve the function of the sebaceous glands and reduce the amount of sebum, which is helpful in fighting acne. Its extracts are also a common ingredient in shampoos for oily hair.
Homemade masks are an alternative to commercial cosmetics containing cucumber extracts. This is a quick and inexpensive way to refresh your skin. However, you must remember that the vegetables used for homemade masks come from organic farming or from your own garden that does not use artificial fertilizers.
Depending on which ingredients we combine with fresh cucumber, the face mask can be designed for oily or dry and mature skin. The homemade mask can be used twice a week, preferably in the evening. We always prepare the mask before applying, never store it in the refrigerator.
The easiest way is to cut the cucumber into thin slices or chop the pulp and apply it to your face. Remove the mask after 15 minutes, wash your face with water and apply a moisturizer.
When we combine cucumber with oatmeal, we get a mask perfect for oily and acne prone skin. We need half a grated cucumber, a tablespoon of oatmeal, and a tablespoon of natural yogurt (no sugar or milk powder). The mask is applied to the face for about 15 minutes and washed off with water.
When the skin does not have a uniform color, you can make a cucumber and lemon mask at home. To do this, we need: grated medium-sized cucumber, a teaspoon of lemon juice, a tablespoon of full-fat cottage cheese or plain yogurt. Leave the mask on for 15-20 minutes and then wash off.
Grated fresh cucumber can also be used on dry and mature skin, combining it with cold-pressed oils: coconut, pumpkin, olive, almond oil.
