Step 1

To perform a trim manicure, you will need nippers or cuticle scissors, a nail file, a spatula or wooden cuticle stick, and nail polish remover. It's good if you have some oil to soften the skin around your nails.

Step 2

Start by removing the nail polish. Soak the cotton wool in the liquid and apply it to the nail for a few seconds, and then wipe it off - the varnish will come off easily and quickly.

Step 3

Trim all nails to the same length, if necessary. For a beautiful manicure, nails of different lengths are not left.

Step 4

Use a file to give your nails a nice shape. When filing, the file is applied to the corner of the nail at an angle of 45 degrees and begins to file only from the corner of the nail to the center. If you file your nails from the center to the corners, the nail will begin to flake. The movements when filing nails should be long, smooth, no jerky movements. For filing your nails, choose sapphire or glass files that are less damaging to your nails. Leave the metal files to the professionals.

Step 5

When your nails are shaped, pour warm water into a bowl, drip any soap solution, or just throw in a bar of soap. Lubricate the skin with cuticle oil and soak your nails in water for 10 minutes. When the skin around the nail becomes soft and whitened, you can proceed to the next step - pushing back the cuticle.

Step 6

Using a stick or a spatula hatchet, push the cuticle off the nail and slightly move the side ridges away from the nail. These operations must be done very carefully, since the cuticle protects the base of the nail, and any damage to it can lead to regrowth of an uneven nail.

Step 7

When the dead skin is pushed back, take tweezers or scissors and, starting only from the corner of the nail, without lifting the tool from the nail, cut off the side roller. After cutting off the side ridge, go to the cuticle. They cut it off very carefully, remembering that you cannot deeply cut the cuticle, and besides, wounded skin will not add beauty to a manicure. When the cuticle is cut off, cut the side ridge from the second corner of the nail. Trim off the skin on all nails.

Step 8

To finish a trim manicure, massage your hands with an exfoliating cream, rinse and lubricate your hands with a nourishing cream. If you want to cover your nails with manicure varnish, then remove the grease from the nails, be sure to first apply a base coat under the varnish, then two layers of manicure varnish and fix the manicure with a fixative varnish.
