Initially, breeches were part of the uniform of the French cavalry. Then trousers of this cut were adopted by many armies of the world. And since last season, many designers have shown an increased interest in riding breeches. You don't have to go to a boutique to get these trendy pants. Sew the breeches yourself.

Instructions
Step 1
First you need a pattern on paper. You can build it yourself, or you can copy it from a magazine or download it from the Internet. Working with a ready-made pattern will greatly facilitate your task and save a lot of time. For the breeches, you will need to draw the front and back. The rest of the elements (belt and loops to it, pockets, details for lacing, etc.) are optional. Cut them out as you see fit. Measurements are taken in almost the same way as for any trousers. Measure around your waist, hips and mid-thigh. You also need to know the height from the waist to the surface of the seat, the length of the legs in front and on the side. When taking measurements for breeches trousers, measure the length from the waist to the knee line. Count the knee and calf girth tight, but leave at least 2-3 cm for allowances. The breeches can be either short or long. In the second case, then still measure the volume of the ankle according to the method described above.
Step 2
When the paper pattern is ready, transfer it to the fabric. The material for sewing modern breeches can be absolutely anything. Trace all the details with a tailor's pencil or crayon. When cutting, leave a few centimeters on all sides for allowances.
Step 3
If you sew simple breeches without additional elements (for example, without lacing, pockets), they are sewn in the same way as any other trousers. Both parts are folded with the front sides to each other and sewn along all the outlined lines. If you cut out the belt separately, sew it on. But if you still had patch pockets, do not forget that they are sewn on before the main details begin to be worn. Of course, you can sew on a forgotten pocket later. But then you'd better do it manually. The final, but very important point is the sewing in of zippers and / or buttons.
